A smart new set of RAF gates will shortly welcome visitors to the Battle of Britain Memorial site at Capel-le-Ferne, just along the coast.
Godden Allen Lawn handled the planning application for the gates, which used to be at Biggin Hill, to be installed at the entrance to the clifftop memorial, replacing the uninspiring farm gates that are currently there.
We have also designed new walls and brick piers to frame the imposing new metalwork, which will be repainted to give visitors a more appropriate entrance to this popular site. Work is due to start on the scheme in early November.
Godden Allen Lawn also designed and supervised the building of The Wing, the Spitfire wing-shaped visitor centre at the site, opened by Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh in March 2015.
