Supporting the local community

As part of our ongoing commitment to our local community, Godden Allen Lawn supported a ‘Guess the Job’ workshop at Folkestone Academy.

The event was aimed at giving a group of Year 7 students an insight into the different career paths they might want to focus on as they progress through the school.

Our own Nick Lawn joined representatives from the KM Group, Smiths Medical, EDF Energy, The Grand, Kreston Reeves and Arthur J. Gallagher insurance brokers at the session, organised as part of the academy’s Reach Your Peak initiative, aimed at providing opportunities and support for students with the potential to study at a good university.

Students spent five minutes quizzing each of the employers’ representatives about the work they did before trying to guess their job role. “They were very bright youngsters who were very keen to find out more about what we did,” commented Nick.

“It gave them a chance to develop their communication and presentation skills as well as finding out about different career paths, and it was a really worthwhile initiative for us to support. It was good to see how their confidence developed as the session progressed.”
