Helping to tell Folkestone’s story

Folkestone has a stylish new museum within the Town Hall following a £1.95m project that has transformed parts of the listed building. Together we’ve transformed the lower ground floor and parts of the upper ground floor and first floors into a smart new facility that includes not just the museum – which […]

Our plans for bigger, better community facilities on the site of the existing sixties-built hall found favour with the Preston Community Centre Development committee, which has now asked us to take the scheme forward.   Lots of new housing locally means this will be an important facility serving a growing community – and the prominent village […]

The award we really wanted…

The iconic, multi-award wining Wing building we designed for the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust has picked up two more prestigious awards – and this time we really are celebrating. Although the wing-shaped visitor centre at Capel-le-Ferne has already collected a handful of top prizes, the Kent Design and Development Awards have always been special to us as an architectural consultancy, even more so as they are independent of any magazine or trade group. The awards are bi-annual, which means […]

While the Godden Allen Lawn Team has a great reputation for designing modern buildings like the Spitfire-inspired Wing at Capel-le-Ferne, we also know our stuff when it comes to looking after the local heritage. As chartered surveyors, we are skilled at maintaining the fabric of old buildings, and our portfolio currently includes two of the oldest in the country. We protect, preserve and advise the Trustees who are responsible for two Kent alsmhouses, St John’s Hospital in Northgate, Canterbury, which […]

Raising the roof in Trinity Crescent

We’ve raised the roof with our innovative conversion of a former Folkestone hotel into luxury flats – literally. Our design for the St Olave’s building in Trinity Crescent, now being marketed by London-based Peak Living, involved taking off the roof and adding in two extra storeys to create a luxury penthouse flat with a stunning roof terrace. The scheme has created a total of 11 high-end one, two and three-bedroom apartments, with our novel approach to the top of the […]
