We were up against the clock when we were asked to oversee vital repairs to an accommodation block at the historic Duke of York’s Royal Military School in Dover .
After an inspection discovered that virtually all the showers within the two-storey sixth form boarding house had been leaking for some time – despite the building being just ten years old – the school asked Godden Allen Lawn to help.
We identified the problem, specified the work needed to tackle it and acted as the contract administrator for the project, bringing in Spinks Construction Ltd to work on the 30 en-suite rooms on each of the building’s two floors.
The work involved ripping out and replacing all the floors in the 60 units and then carrying out a complete refurbishment – all by a 21 February deadline.
The work was completed on time and came in under budget, with the building now as good as new and handed back to the school.
